Yup
Went with brother and sister-in-law. Brothers a meat eater. Sister in law not a fried food eater. Both enjoyed the filet tonkatsu. It's the best I've had outside of Japan. Moist, tender not greasy. Will continue to return and take anyone here
Very tasteful and friendly environment. Left side is more discreet. Food was amazing but it had c sign on it.. don't know why but loved uni pasta and sushis were beyond freshness !!
Authentic Japanese katsu!
Donkatsu is served in original Japanese style. Sauce itself is in familiar taste but addition of MUSTARD and crushed sesame seeds results in deep savory flavor. Katsu and croquette were properly cooked and felt warm & soft in mouth. I tried Millefeuille Katsu Gozen, multi-layered sliced black pork loin cutlet, and this tasted very juicy and tender. Particularly, it's really juicy and met my expectation. Excellent! Real Japanese style exotic interior, novel taste of miso soup are just a few of many things that come across my mind about this place. Next time, I will try their Premium Filet Katsu Gozen as filet katsu has always been my favorite type of donkatsu. This time, I just tried another. Ranked as my #1 katsu place in CA. Wow~프리미엄급 ì •í†µ ì¼ë³¸ì‹ ëˆê¹ŒìŠ¤. ì¼ë³¸ìŠ¤íƒ€ì¼ì´ 쎔.한편, 조그마한 ìš©ê¸°ì— ì†Œê¸ˆí•˜ê³ íŠ¸ëŸ¬í”Œì†ŒìŠ¤ ì§ì ‘ ê°€ì ¸ê°€ì„œ ì°ì–´ë¨¹ê³ 싶ìŒ^^ 지극히 ê°œì¸ì ì¸ ì·¨í–¥~ 서비스는 ì¿¨í•˜ê³ ë§¤ìš° ì¹œì² í•¨.
Good lunch sets with tonkatsu chicken katsu and kaki-fry. Miso soup refills. At lunch they had a special small draft Sapporo beer for $2. Nice decor and free parking.
Kagura reveals an somewhat extensive menu consisting of katsu/tonkatsu variations. For those unfamiliar with katsu/tonkatsu, it's a variation of chicken fried steak, cutlets, milanesa, wienerschnizel, etc.Like most Japanese cuisine, the food can be somewhat bland. Therefore, the items are usually accompanied by a sauce. Quality is excellent and the service is efficient. The restaurant itself is vast and offers both seating on one side separated by a bar/wall and standard table seating. With only a few side parking spaces outside of the building, one would need to park on the street. Air conditioning was almost non existent and additional shades are required since the sunset would glare directly into diners' faces.
Decent food, slightly pricey. Portion is small but is expected for a Japanese joint such as Kagura
Free refills on rice, cabbage, and miso soup. Brown rice is essentially black rice+white rice and it’s undercooked. Don’t get it. Steamed egg that comes with GOZEN set is good. Pickled daikon&carrot.. fail. Katsu is good, meat is tender but not really worth the long wait...Always a crowd waiting. Get there before they open to avoid waiting in line. Bar seating is useless because they don’t serve food there. Parking: onsite only 7-8. Better look for street parking or park at your own risk in a seemingly vacant plaza next to it. This restaurant has a B from health rating, so I don’t really get all the hype there is?
1st time these and went on a whim.Service was good along with the food.I ordered the duck wife ordered the wrapped pork tenderloin along with a saladAll very good. Will be back
Very traditional japanese restaurant. All foods are yummy. My favorite restaurant. Best in town.
Very good tonkatsu and good service. Would definitely recommend!
Delicious katsu. Very good food and great service. Cute, old school Japanese vibe.
Tasty is good, service is fine, but parking space is too small. And...a dish is not too much for a man. May eat more than one dish.
Regular lunch spot for me. Tender fried pork cutlet options and delicate cuts of fish. I particularly enjoy the miso black cod.
OMG! I’m back to Japan now! The layout, the menu, the food, the services.... Authentic japanese food. It is a 5+ stars. Will be back soon.
Great food and atmosphere.
If you like the Japanese style tonkatsu, you should try this place out. The meat is always thick and juicy inside and crunchy on the outside. They also give you a small mortar with pestle with sesame to grind your own to mix in the sauce or whatever you like. I have also tried grilled Hoke (I think) fish lunch set and it was also thick and juicy. This is one of my favorite lunch places. The service is good and portion is good. There is a small adjacent parking lot on the north side of the building. Street parking also available at times. Go there early to avoid the crowd.
Oishi! Very friendly staff and the food was so good. Presentation was very lovely, too. Most of us got a Katsu dish. The side dishes were very good and all you can eat. They also presented barley tea at the end of the meal which was a nice touch. Would love to go back!
Servers were awesome, food was amazing, beer was great, parking was decent, overall great experience
Cheesy goodness :) I enjoy Kagura for their vibe and decent food ðŸ˜
Very Good deep fry Japan pork chops. Must go
We were glad to find this place. My daughter loved their black cod fish it was so moist and delicious, and she loved the steam egg flan that they gave so we ordered another one for her. The mille Tonkatsu was moist and delicious too. Will definitely come back
I really enjoyed this restaurant. Perfectly crisp tonkatsu with juicy meat on the inside. It's presented in a traditional Japanese fashion, so it's not only delicious. It's beautifully plated. Nothing goes better with Japanese food than a crisp cold Japanese lager. The atmosphere is relatively quiet here, even though it's a casual restaurant. It's not a place for large groups but for small, more intimate gatherings.
Excellent restaurant for Tonkatsu!! It was fantastic and my step-dads miso black cod just melted in your mouth. The service was quick and friendly, the interior was simplistic and calming. Although it is a bit of a way from Irvine, I will keep going back...it's worth it. BE SURE TO RESERVE! They get really busy.
One of the best Katsu. Crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. The tonkatsu is meaty and juicy. The fried oyster is good. Definitely will go again
It's very delicious and tidy. If you really like pork cutlet, I highly recommend it. I and my son eat everything in a moment, so I only took pictures. haha
